Mark R. McCollom Speaks at Maryland Bankers Association Annual Convention

READING, PA, June 8, 2017– Mark R. McCollom, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Griffin’s Financial Institutions Group, spoke at the Maryland Bankers Association Annual Convention held June 4-7, 2017, in Charleston, SC.

Mr. McCollom’s presentation, “Capital Planning and the Role of Private Equity,” covered the evolution of the “Trump Bump” as the president’s high expectations, accommodative administration and prospects for growth have propped up the market. Mr. McCollom also discussed the capital planning environment and the role of private equity in the new era of banking.

Mark R. McCollom provides merger and acquisition advisory, capital formation and strategic alternative services to bank executives, directors, stockholders and investors. Calling on his more than 20 years of experience as a senior financial executive in the banking industry, Mr. McCollom works with both major and community banks and thrifts, specialty lenders and asset managers.

Over the course of his career, Mr. McCollom has coordinated the financial and operational aspects of more than 50 transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, sale/leasebacks and debt and equity financings, with a combined transaction value in excess of $20 billion.

Prior to joining Griffin, Mr. McCollom was Chief Financial Officer for Sovereign Bancorp, Inc. and Sovereign Bank, a financial institution with approximately $90 billion in assets and 12,000 team members with principal markets in the northeast United States. During his tenure at Sovereign, he was responsible for corporate strategy and development; the treasury, accounting and financial reporting functions; investor relations; management reporting; budgeting; corporate real estate; and tax. Prior to joining Sovereign, Mr. McCollom was a senior corporate development officer at Meridian Bancorp and an auditor with Price Waterhouse.

A CPA, Mr. McCollom is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a frequent speaker at banking industry conferences across the country. Mr. McCollom received a B.S., with high distinction, from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed General Securities Principal.
