Stevens & Lee Attorneys Present at Local Government Law Seminar

PRINCETON, NJ, January 31, 2018 – Stevens & Lee’s Maeve E. Cannon, Shareholder, Ryan P. Kennedy, Of Counsel, and Wade D. Koenecke, Associate, presented at the National Business Institute Seminar “Local Government Law from Start to Finish” held in Cherry Hill, NJ, on December 15, 2017.

The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of local government law. Ms. Cannon presented “Public Contracts and Bidding – Avoiding Delays and Mitigating Liability.” Mr. Kennedy’s presentation covered land use in New Jersey for the government attorney, and Mr. Koenecke guided attorneys on navigating compliance issues with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act and the New Jersey Open Public Records Act.

Ms. Cannon concentrates her practice in administrative law, regulatory compliance and public procurement and government contracts litigation. She appears before state agencies and state and administrative courts, and has an active appellate practice. She has substantial experience in all aspects of government contracting disputes at the state and local levels and advises clients at each stage of the public bidding and contract process.

Ms. Cannon has represented litigants in several significant published procurement cases, and represents clients before a number of New Jersey state administrative agencies including labor, treasury, personnel and environmental protection. Ms. Cannon serves as General Counsel to Ewing Township, NJ.

She has been named to The Best Lawyers in America in the area of government contracts since 2016. Ms. Cannon has a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from Colorado College.

Mr. Kennedy represents private and government clients in all aspects of real estate acquisition, lending and development, with particular emphasis on land use, redevelopment, condemnation, lender work-outs and transit-oriented development.

He represents property owners in real estate tax appeals throughout the state of New Jersey, including the management of entire investor portfolios for institutional clients. For development projects in New Jersey, he has advised both government and private entities in the area of state and local tax incentive programs, including negotiating PILOT agreements, tax abatements and redevelopment area bonds. Mr. Kennedy serves on a municipal land use board and assists clients with the entire planning and zoning process for projects of all sizes, and also

acts as redevelopment and condemnation counsel for both public and private parties. He is a former Judicial Law Clerk to The Honorable Joseph L. Yannotti, New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division. As published in the New Jersey Law Journal, Ryan was named one of the New Leaders of the Bar in 2017. He was also recognized as a New Jersey Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2014 through 2017. He has a J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. from Boston College.

Mr. Koenecke focuses his practice in administrative law, procurement law and government contracts litigation, as well as complex civil and business litigation and appellate advocacy.

Mr. Koenecke served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph L. Yannotti, New Jersey Appellate Division. While in law school, he was an editor on the Law Review. He has a J.D., magna cum laude, from Rutgers University School of Law – Camden and a B.S., summa cum laude, from Susquehanna University.
